According to reliable sources, the joint opposition parliament group is planning to submit a censure motion against the speaker of the parliament Abdullah Maseeh. They have started collecting signatures required to impeach the speaker. A total of 42 signatures is needed submit a motion to impeach the speaker.
MP Abdullah Riyaz said that they have started the process and that they will get help from PPM and MDA parliament members.
The amendments to the parliament regulations, a censure motion can be submitted with 42 signatures. Previously only 15 signatures were required to submit a motion impeach the speaker and the deputy speaker of the parliament.
Riyaz did not reveal how many people signed the petition so far and did not give any other details.
