Government of Maldives has assured the European Union that the transition of power will happen smoothly. The statement issued after EU delegations met with the government, says that the government made this assurance.
In addition, the statement says that they offered help in various areas where Maldives needs assistance. That includes the judiciary, human rights, upholding rule of law, environment and anti-corruption.
EU’s statement also highlighted the importance of all stake holder being responsible and maintaining the impartiality of independent state institutions.
