President of Dhivehi Bahuge Academy Asharaf Ali has thanked the Prime Minister of India Modi for tweeting in Dhivehi.
Ashraf said that it was indeed a notable thing for a world leader such as Modi to tweet in Dhivehi from his personal account. He said that, this would give more exposure to the Maldivian language and Maldives as a whole.
Ashraf said that Maldivians should accept this and be thankful. He said that also it should be noted that Modi tweeted in Thaana and this shows that Thaana has a place in today’s world.
Modi’s tweet got attention from all over the world and the Maldives as well.
