Secretary General of JP, Ahmed Sameer have said that former Vice President Adheeb should be given the opportunity to seek medical treatment. Sameer tweeted saying that the punishment for a crime should not restrict anyone to seek treatment and that everyone should be treated humanely.
Sameer also noted that even Ahmed Adeeb is a son of a Maldivian mother and a father. He tagged Maldivian security services in the tweet.
However, President Yameen previously stated that Adheeb has no rights in Maldives despite the serious concerns about his health.
Adeeb’s family and lawyers have been expressing concern saying that the government is acting contrary to the constitution of the Maldives and the international treaties of which Maldives is a party to.
