There is no barrier for the parliament members to impeach speaker of the parliament Abdullah Maseeh now.
The general affairs committee of the parliament today decided that the censure motion submitted in 2017 with signatures from 45 MPs is valid and that it will be processed even without giving Maseeh a chance to reply.
In 2017, the motion was declared invalid after disqualifying 12 MPs who signed the motion. However Supreme Court has reinstated the 12 members.
Meanwhile, 51 MPs signed a new censure motion this month to impeach Maseeh. Hence it is clear that majority of the parliament members want Maseeh gone.
