Two former Supreme Court justices, former PG and former justice Nihan changed to house arrest

Former Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed, former Supreme Court judge Ali Hameed, former PG Muhuthaaz Muhsin and former magistrate Ahmed Nihan has been changed to house arrest yesterday. 

President Solih pledged to free all political prisoners and those who were imprisoned unjustly on his first day in office. 

Former Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed and justice Ali Hameed were convicted of obstructing justice and abusing their official position. In addition Abdullah Saeed was convicted of stopping the GEMS system. In addition both of them were charged with terrorism for trying to topple the government of President Yameen.

So far magistrate Nihan and former PG Muhuthaz were only convicted for terrorism. In 2017 the criminal court ordered to jail the duo for 17 years.
