President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has become the first president of Maldives to visit Dhoonidhoo jail within the first week as president.
Speaking about it, Deputy PG leader of JP Ali Hussein said that the people voted not for a specific party but for the nation. He said that the results of this historic decision are being witnessed even now.
“We have never seen a Maldivian president visiting the jail within the first week of presidency” said Ali Hussein.
In addition he said that, we haven’t seen past administration working to reform the jail. Earlier this year, President Yameen’s government arrested President Solih and kept him in Dhoonidhoo. Hence President Solih will know how it is to stay in Dhoonidhoo.
President Solih was accompanied by Home Minister Imran during his visit to Dhoonidhoo. Imran also spent many days in Dhoonidhoo. He also visited Dhoonidhoo during the first week of office.
