Foreign Minister of the Maldives Abdullah Shahid has met with the president of India Ramnaath Koavindh today.
After meeting the foreign minister, Indian president tweeted saying that India will assist Maldives in economic and social development.
This is the first official overseas visit by the foreign minister after assuming office. Minister Shahid met with Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj as well. Shahid said that he is happy with the outcomes of the discussions.
The foreign minister is accompanied by Finance Minister Ameer and Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail during the visit.
