Thoyyib Mohammed a former state minister has been appointed as the managing director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
He was a state minister at the tourism ministry during former President Nasheed’s administration.
MMPRC is infamous for the largest corruption scandal that happened in the history of the Maldives. More than a billion Rufiyaa was apparently lost through corruption. Former Vice President Adheeb and the MD of MMPRC Abdullah Ziyath were arrested regarding the case.
After that Haris Mohammed was appointed as an acting MD at the corporation. After the corruption scandal MMPRC was largely inactive during President Yameen’s administration.
