President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih have said that the people will have the freedom to criticize the government and within a year he will show improvements that is internationally acceptable.
Speaking at AA.Ukulhas, the president said that within a year when he talks to the people, he will talk about the improvements with regard to freedom of press. In addition he said that the democratic norms will be upheld and the ranking of Maldives on Freedom House and Reporters Without Borders will improve.
“We are forming the national framework on human rights with the help of UNDP and that is very important” said the president. The president said that implementing the framework will be an important step towards protecting human rights. President Solih said that without development, there will be no stability and there will be no development without stability. He said that sustainable peace and sustainable development cannot be achieved without upholding human rights.
