President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih has appointed Mohammed Hameed (MC Hameed) as the acting commissioner of Police. Hameed was dismissed from the police service in 2012 for leaking classified information. However, earlier this month the Supreme Court ordered to reinstate him.
After he was reinstated, he was promoted to the position of assistant commissioner of police. Meanwhile, the former CP Hamdhoon Rasheed will retired from Maldives police service. Hamdhoon spent 20 years in the police force and was appointed as the CP in September during the final days of President Yameen’s administration.
