Dr Aishath Muneeza has been included in the global list of Islamica 500, the 500 who make the Islamic economy of 2019.
This is the third consecutive year she has been recognised in this list. So far she is the only Maldivian who has been recognised in this list and she is displayed in the cover of 2019 edition among others.
Dr Muneeza is the only female Associate Professor from Maldives who is a globally recognised Islamic finance role model for her outstanding contribution in pioneering Islamic finance in the Maldives and her academic research on Islamic finance.
She is the Islamic Finance News Correspondent in the Maldives since 2011 and has been covering the progress of Islamic finance industry of the Maldives globally and is the only researcher in the Maldives who has published large number of literature about the Maldives Islamic finance industry as case studies.
She had created an impact through her work globally and has innovated unique Islamic finance instruments to develop Islamic finance industry. The sovereign islamic finance instruments and corporate sukuk in Maldives has been structured by her and she has designed the Islamic capital market framework for Maldives.
She was the former Deputy Minister of Finance & Treasury & Ministry of Islamic Affairs. She was the first chairman of Maldives Hajj Corporation. She has authored Islamic finance books which has been published internationally. She has played a key role in developing islamic finance brands in Maldives.
