Supreme Court forms a judicial council

Supreme Court of the Maldives has formed a judicial council. The council was formed through an edict of the court. 

As per the edict, the purpose of the council is to create policies to strengthen the judiciary of Maldives and also because they see that it is useful to have a forum where judges can discuss various issues. 

The judicial council constitutes of the Chief Justice, the justices of the Supreme Court, the chief justice of the High Court, the chief judges of the superior courts, and two magistrates appointed by the Supreme Court. 

Chief Justice Dr.Ahmed Abdullah Didi signed the edict forming the judicial council.
