Tourism Ministry has stated that they plan to allocate safe swimming zones in all the inhabited islands of Maldives.
Speaking at a press conference held today Tourism Minister Ali Waheed said that 9 tourists died in the Maldives this year and 3 staffs of resorts died as well.
Ali Waheed said that President Solih has formed a special committee to resolve these issues. He said that many safety regulations in Maldives are now outdated.
“Hence the committee will make new regulations” said Ali Waheed.
Meanwhile, two tourists died in K.Dhiffushi this week and one tourists died in resort yesterday. Drowning incidents occur from time to time in Maldivian resorts.
