Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has decided to visit Dubai next month to bring European football clubs to the Maldives.
Tourism Minister Ali Waheed had meetings with famous Spanish player Slagado recently. The minister plans to introduce sports tourism to Maldives.
The minister said that he aims to bring at least one club to the Maldives every year. He also said that he wants to advertise Maldives through European teams. He said that the biggest challenge Maldives faces right now is the lack of facilities. Ali Waheed said that the government plans to develop a special island for sports where football teams can conduct training.
Maldives is a popular destination among famous football players. However, European football clubs do not visit Maldives for training camps.
