Ministry of Islamic Affairs has stated that the government will take action against those who insult Islam.
A statement issued by the ministry states that those who insult Islam and those who spread extremism in the name of religion will be investigated and action will be taken against them.
The statement says that, extremist ideologies are being spread in the name of the religion and as a result the religious unity among Maldivians is being disrupted.
Meanwhile, Maldives Police Service also stated that those who insult Islam and those who promote extremism will be investigated. In the last two weeks police summoned some people regarding such cases.
