Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdullah has stated that the government of President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih will not take action against atoll and island councilors for political reasons.
The minister made this statement on Twitter while announcing that the ministry has started reviewing the actions taken against by the councilors in the previous administration.
“Insha Allah the work will be completed and justice will be ensured very soon” said the minister.
According to the decentralization act, the Home Ministry is the oversight authority for local councils.
