Human Rights Commission of the Maldives has begun investigating the death of a man in state custody.
The 85 year old man died last night while he was undergoing treatment at IGMH.
According to HRCM, the man was in Gender Ministry’s custody. A tweet by the Gender Ministry states that the man died of natural causes and he was undergoing treatment for respiratory diseases.
In addition the ministry stated that the state was taking care of him as he had no one to take care of him.
