President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih has said that he will propose amendments to the decentralization act very soon.
Speaking at a rally held by MDP last night to officially launch the campaign for the parliamentary elections, the president said that his wishes to see a day where the local councils of the Maldives are empowered. He said that the government is working on to amend the decentralization act.
He also noted that the pledges made by him during the campaign can be fulfilled when amendments are brought to the decentralization act.
Furthermore the president stated that an MDP majority in the 19th parliament is very important for the government to fulfil their pledges.
