Deputy Speaker of the parliament, MP Moosa Manik has decided not to run for the parliament in the upcoming elections.
He announced his decision on twitter earlier today. MP Moosa is the current MP for HulhuHenveyru constituency. In December 2018 he announced that he will be running for L.Gan constituency and launched his campaign. At the time he stated that he will be running as an independent candidate.
It is not clear why MP Moosa withdrew his name. MP Moosa got elected to the parliament as an MDP member. However he was kicked out from the party and remained as an independent member for a long time. He joined the ruling party PPM back in 2017. However he left the party after President Yameen lost the presidential elections in September 2018.
