Police begins investigating MMPRC embezzlement case based on new found evidence from the ACC’s report

Maldives Police Service has begun investigating the MMPRC embezzlement case based on new found evidence from the Anti-Corruption Commission’s investigative report on the case.

The report shows that funds that should have gone to the state coffers were rerouted to SOF a private company. The company then transferred the money to various people including large businesses in the Maldives.

Speaking to the media acting CP Mohammed Hameedh said that the ACC’s report implies that some people should be charged for their role in the embezzlement and hence the police is now reviewing the case.

He said that the police will investigate money laundering, fraud and forgery among the things highlighted in the ACC’s report.
