Maldives has signed an aviation security cooperation agreement with the United Stated of America.
The agreement was signed by Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid during his ongoing visit to the United States of America.
After signing the agreement the minister tweeted saying that this agreement will enhance capabilities of Maldivian law enforcement bodies to combat terrorism and violent extremism. He also said that it will strengthen the cooperation between Maldives and USA in that area.
During his visit the minister also met with top US government officials including US secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
