People’s National Congress and People’s Progressive Coalition has announced that they will summon Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham and Acting Commissioner of Police Mohammed Hameedh to the relevant parliament committees.
Speaking at a press conference held by the Progressive coalition, MP Ali Arif the spokesperson of PPM said that they have submitted the summons request to the parliament because the case against former President Yameen violates several constitutional articles.
In addition, PPM’s parliamentary group leader Ahmed Nihan Hussein Manik said that the charges against the former president are political motivated since money from SOF was transferred to accounts of several people. He said that the CP and the PG will be held accountable by the parliament committee on independent institutions.
MP Nihan said that they will receive cooperation from many members of the parliament.
