Nestle Milo’s business manager and the company’s representative in Maldives, Dishan Wijayawardena have stated that the company helps to promote sports among Maldivian students because health and education are interrelated.
He made the statement while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 5th Milo Kids Football Fiesta. Dishan said that sport activities are now part of the academic calendar in Maldivian schools and the purpose is to develop various skills. He said that physical activities are important for good health and the education is also dependent on good health.
Dishan said that Milo is assisting in various sporting activities in the Maldives. He also noted that they collaborated with the Education Ministry to introduce Maldives Sports Color Award. He said that they have given sporting award to more than 700 students through the initiative.
Furthermore, he said that the Milo Kids Football Siesta is improving year by year and that it is the work of many people. He noted the role of the parents. “I thank the parents for their cooperation in the last four days” said Dishan.
He also thanked President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih for attending the closing ceremony of the competition and said that it is an encouragement to further improve the competition.
