Public Service Media has paid 30 million Rufiyaa out of the 78 million Rufiyaa owed to Business Image Group (BIG) by Maldives National Broadcasting Commission (MBC).
In 2016, the Civil Court ordered MBNC to pay 78 million Rufiyaa as per an advertisement agreement made with BIG.
As per the agreement BIG has to receive 5 million Rufiyaa. However the amount increased to 78 million with fines.
Under the agreement made between BIG and MNBC, BIG has to be given a commission of 5% from the advertisement earnings of MNBC. MNBC was a company formed by former President Nasheed’s administration.
BIG is owned by Hassan Ismail the Communications secretary of the President’s Office.
