Prominent businessman Abdullah Jabir has announced that he will contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections as an independent candidate.
Abdullah Jabir contest in the MDP’s primary for Kaashidhoo constituency. However he lost the election with a huge margin. Abdullah Jabir then went to the Supreme Court requesting to nullify the legislation which blocks candidates who lose party primaries from contesting as independent candidates.
After the court issued the verdict in his favor, he announced that he will be contesting for the seat. Ruling party MDP has warned that they will take action against him if he contests as an independent candidate.
Abdullah Jabir is also a special envoy to President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih.
