MP Rozaina Adam the MP for Meedhoo Constituency has stated that corruption can be stopped only after arresting the major thieves who are looting the country.
Speaking at the parliament today, Rozaina said that stealing a pencil is also a crime, but corruption cannot be stopped only if people who commit minor crimes are punished while those who commit major crimes are not investigated.
Rozaina said that the case of MMPRC was lodged to the parliament, but the parliament refused to accept it saying that the case was already being investigated by a presidential commission formed by former President Yameen. She noted that no action was taken by the commission.
Many MPs who spoke at the parliament today noted that many MPs from ordinary backgrounds become rich very quickly as soon as they get elected to the parliament.
