The people will only believe that the judges are just, when they see the judges issuing just verdicts : Ahmed Muizzu

The first prosecutor general of the Maldives Ahmed Muizzu have stated that the people will only believe that the judges are just when they see the judges issuing just verdicts.

He made this statement while speaking at the ceremony held at the Supreme Court to issue license to 84 new lawyers. Muizzu was the chief guest of the ceremony.

He said that the people will not go to the courts if justice is not delivered. He further said that the judges should adjudicate in a just manner.

Speaking to the new lawyers, he said that to be a lawyer they should know many different things. “Completing a degree will not be enough. Have to learn many things from the field” said Muizzu.

In addition he advised the lawyers not to take short cuts and asked them to be wary of unlawful activities that takes place in government offices.

Furthermore, he expressed concerns that two justices of the court were dismissed and also because some High Court judges were sent to the atolls. He said that like how the lawyers expressed concern when Justice Abdullah was arrested, they should do it against any unjust act.
