Health Minister Abdullah Ameen has stated that mental health issues should not be hidden.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the mental health awareness campaign of the government, the minister said that those who think that they are suffering from a mental illness should not hide it and confide in others.
He said that when asked how they are, some people respond saying that they are fine, and usually they do not have the courage to share what is going on in their minds.
In addition, the minister said that people should familiarize themselves with health-related information as other diseases also might lead to mental illnesses.
The mental health awareness campaign will be conducted for one year. Providing facilities to treat mental illnesses is a pledge by President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih.
