Villa College, the largest private college of the Maldives hold the college’s graduation ceremony. A total of 309 students graduated today. Villa College conducts the college’s own courses and courses of Open University Malaysia’s courses.
The graduation ceremony was held in three sessions at the hall of Villa College. In the first session 77 students who completed Villa College’s and OUM’s courses graduated. Students graduated from the fields of business administration, accounting, human resource management and many other courses.
The welcome speech of the morning session of the convocation was delivered by Villa College’s rector Dr.Anwar. The ceremony was introduced by Dr.Vidhaadh Osman the academic vice chancellor of OUM.
The convocation was officially inaugurated by Professor Dato Mansoor Fazeel the Vice Chancellor of Open University Malaysia. In his speech he noted that there are 1823 alumnus of the university in the Maldives.
The degrees were conferred by Professor Dato Mansoor Fazeel. Mariyam Shazra, a student who graduated in Bachelor of Human Resource Management spoke on behalf of the graduates.
In the afternoon session, 237 students graduated. The welcome speech was given by Vice rector of Villa College, Dr.Ali Najeeb. Dr.Ali Najeeb noted that 758 students will graduate from Villa College within this year. He said that 30% of the graduates are students who study at campuses and learning centers within atolls. He also noted that 51% of the graduates are women. The degrees in the afternoon session were conferred by Dr.Ahmed Anwar the rector of Villa College.
