MP Ahmed Siyam Mohammed the member of parliament for Meedhoo constituency will chair the first session of the 19th parliament according to the secretariat of the parliament.
According to the secretariat of the parliament, the first session will be held on 28th May. The regulations of the parliament state that the first session will be chaired by the longest serving member and if there are more than one member with equal amounts of terms, then priority should be given to the eldest member. MP Aslam of Hithadhoo north constituency and MP Siyam has served three terms in the parliament.
MP Siyam was given the responsibility as he is a year older than MP Aslam.
