Environment Minister Dr.Hussein Rasheed Hassan has stated that the government plans to remove import duty on bicycles.
Dr.Hussen made this statement while speaking at a meeting held with former ministers of environment. He said that at the moment a duty of 15% is levied on bicycles and removing it will reduce the price of bicycles and more people will ride bicycles.
He said that Male’ is congested because of motorized vehicles and the fumes released by such vehicles is contaminating the air of Male’ City. He said that the solution is more people using bicycles.
