President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih has tweeted today stating that the government will not close the Islamic University of Maldives.
He made this statement during a time some MDP MPs have been calling to change the university to a faculty of Maldives National University.
Many people have been expressing concern about the calls to close the university.
Speaking at the parliament’s committee, Dr.Musthafa Lutfy stated that some changes will be brought to the running of IUM, but he did not explain further.
He said that the day to day running of the university will be done by the vice chancellors.
