The government has decided to bring back Maldivians in 5 Chinese cities for free. National airline Maldivian has facilitated to bring back Maldivians as per the government’s request.
Maldivians in HongQing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Xian are requested to contact the Chinese Embassy in Maldives if they wished to return via Maldivian.
The flight from Xian to Maldives will arrive on Sunday while the flight from HongQing will arrive in the Maldives on Monday. Meanwhile the flight from Nanjing will arrive on Tuesday and the flight from Chengdu will arrive on Wednesday. Lastly the flight from Hangzhou will arrive on Friday.
There are 79 Maldivians in China across the Maldives. Out of them 6 Maldivians are in Wuhan City where the corona virus outbreak began. The Maldivian Embassy in China is assisting the Maldives in Wuhan City as well.
