Corona virus likely to be found in Maldives: Risk assessment

A risk assessment done by the health ministry shows that Maldives is likely to be affected by the corona virus. 

According to the President’s Office, the government has established quarantine facilities in Hulhumale and Velana International Airport incase someone with the virus is found. In addition, they stated that a special ICU has been established at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital. 

In addition, thermal cameras have been installed at Velana International Airport to screen incoming travelers. The president’s office revealed that they are working on installing more thermal cameras in other ports of entry. 

The isolation facility in Hulhumale has 12 beds. In addition, the government revealed that 3 ambulances will be on standby to transfer patients suspected of having the virus. The ambulances are located at IGMH, VIA and Hulhumale’. 

Health Protection Agency has also established a hotline to contact regarding this case.
