Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has stated that even though 11,000 bookings were cancelled due to the corona virus outbreak, more than 24,000 bookings were made.
Speaking to the press at the President’s Office, Ali Waheed said that the Maldives is ready for corona virus outbreak and even now except three resorts, all the resorts in Maldives are equipped to provide medical services. He said that medical services will be established in these three resorts as well. Most of the resorts have clinics and top tier in house doctors.
In January 2020, more tourists visited the Maldives compared to the previous year. In 2019, 151550 tourists visited Maldives in January, while this year 173874 tourists visited.
So far no one has been tested positive for corona virus in the Maldives. Even the three suspected patients are recovering now and according to the health ministry, they will receive the test results tomorrow
