The 2nd secretary at the Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Ibrahim Asif has passed away.
Asif served at the Foreign Ministry for 29 years. He passed away suddenly on Sunday night. Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid sent condolences to Asif’s wife and family.
“Grieved by the untimely demise of Ibrahim Asif, 2nd Secretary of Maldives High Commission, Colombo. A committed foreign service officer for 29 years. A compassionate & caring member of #TeamKhaarijee. Thoughts & prayers are with his family. May Allah SWT grant him Jannah! Aameen”, said the Foreign Minister in a tweet.
In addition the minister called Asif’s wife and his brother to express sympathy for the family and expressed grief on his untimely death.
Asif is well known among Maldivians in Sri Lanka and he always kept a good relation with the Maldivian community in Sri Lanka.
