The Maldivian Government has reported that Revenue from Green tax and TGST has increased by 14.8 percent, by the end of last week compared to the period last year.
According to the latest Weekly Fiscal Report issued by the Ministry of Finance, giving this year’s expenditure up-to 29 May 2025, the country received 13.0 billion Rufiyaa as tax, which amounts to 78.4 percent of the total revenue. The increase of 14.8 percent was recorded following and increase to the GST and TGST rates.
An increase of 49.8 percent was also recorded in Airport Development fees as there was an 8.3 percent increase in Tourist arrivals. With these changes, total revenue and grant aide also saw an increase of 5.2 percent increase, as well as a 47.1 increase in the amount deposited in Sovereign Development Fund.
While 41.6 of the expected income was received by 20th May 2025 , total expenditure stand at 31.1 percent.
According to the latest Weekly Fiscal Report, total expenditure by the end of last week stood at 15.3 billion Rufiyaa, which was 16.3 percent lower than the period last year. This includes a 2.0 percent decrease in Recurrent expenditure and a 65.5 percent decrease in capital expenditure.
