President Dr Mohamed Muizz says he has made arrangement for NSPA supported patients to get USD 2000 beginning 1st of August 2025, when going abroad for medical treatment, similar to ASANDHA supported patients. Under the move arrangements have also been made for those going abroad on their own to get USD 1000 through the banks.
Writing on X the President said such an arrangement had to be made to make it more convenient for those going abroad for medical treatment to get the foreign currency they need.
At present NSPA supported patients and those going on their own get to buy USD 500 each from the bank. In addition, USD 500 can be bought per ticket for the rest of the travelers as well.
The government has been supporting the treatment of patients, if the treatment is not available in the country, hence spending a huge amount on same.
