Sri Lankan President to visit Maldives Monday at the invitation of President Muizz

President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake is to undertake a state visit to Maldives from 28th to 30 July 2025.

Sri lankan President is visiting Maldives at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

During the visit both leaders are expected to hold official talks to enhance cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka in mutually beneficial areas.

As per “economy next” news, in addition to bilateral talks both leaders are also expected to exchange several Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen mutual cooperation. He is also scheduled to address a business forum and meet the Sri Lankan expatriate community in Male City. 

It is President Dissanayake’s first state visit to the Maldives since assuming office in September 2024. He will be accompanied on the visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and some other senior Government officials. 

The Maldives established diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka on 26 July 1965, the year it gained Independence. Hence this year commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, who are close neighbors.
