Ooredoo Maldives earns a net profit of MVR 168 million

One of the two Telecom companies in the country, Ooredoo Maldives has reported a net profit of MVR 168 million for the second quarter of 2025, with a profit margin of 31.1 percent, reflecting a 4% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the company’s financial disclosure on 30 April.  

Despite a marginal 1% dip in revenue to MVR 547 million, the telecom provider posted steady earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of MVR 298 million, up 1% from the first quarter of 2024, driven by enhanced operational efficiency and cost optimization.

The company also recorded a 5% increase in its customer base, reaching 426,000 subscribers.

The company also introduced several new services this quarter, including the launch of Samsung smartwatches with eSIM support and a major 5G expansion, now reaching 80% of the Maldivian population.

Ooredoo also ran special Ramadan campaigns, such as ‘Roadhaige Nooru’ and ‘Karaa Felhun’, focused on community engagement.

At its Annual General Meeting, the company confirmed a dividend of MVR 3.43 per share from last year’s profit.
