President Dr Muizzu Unveils Major Infrastructure and Social Development Plans Across 10 Islands of North Miladhunmadulu Atoll

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has visited ten inhabited islands of North Miladhunmadulu Atoll as part of his four-day tour that began Monday. During his meetings with Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs), and community members, the President announced a series of major projects in health, education, housing, and transport, reaffirming his commitment to ensure equitable development across all islands.
He is accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials, with visits scheduled to continue in four remaining islands of the atoll.


SH. Noomaraa

Key Announcements:

  • Laboratory testing facilities to be established on all inhabited islands by end of 2026.
  • Noomaraa to receive a new health laboratory, harbour docking area, and designated swimming zone.
  • 2026 Budget to include modern football ground, volleyball court, and multi-purpose school hall.
  • Powerhouse relocation to be completed before next Ramadan.
  • Measures to resolve prolonged RTL ferry route issues.

President’s Remarks:
President Muizzu said strengthening the health sector remains one of his top national priorities, assuring that each island will soon have full laboratory testing capability. He emphasised, “All development projects in Noomaraa will be carried out efficiently and in line with community needs.”

Projects Initiated:
Construction began on the Noomaraa Fitness and Recreation Centre, a new police station, a mosque, and the Council Secretariat building.


SH. Kan’ditheemu

  • Expansion of Kan’ditheemu Health Centre to a two-storey, 20-bed facility.
