HDC Signs Road Development Agreement with Chinese Firm for Hulhumalé

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed an agreement with China’s Rotime Engineering and Technology to undertake major road construction and rectification works in Hulhumalé. The project covers the development of up to 1.1 kilometres of key roads, including five primary roads in Phase I and one major road in Phase II.

The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, with HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair representing the corporation and Managing Director Zhou Weidong signing on behalf of the Chinese company.

According to HDC, the agreement will see the completion of several long-pending roads in Phase I, along with the enhancement of the road running alongside the Vinares Housing Towers in Phase II. The work aims to bring the road network up to proper urban standards and improve overall accessibility in the rapidly growing city.

The project is expected to be completed within six months. HDC noted that strengthening Hulhumalé’s infrastructure remains a priority, adding that the upgraded roads will help address ongoing mobility challenges faced by residents and support the city’s continued development.
