Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen has officially retired after more than three decades of service, with a formal ceremony held to recognize his contribution to the nation.
Naveen, who dedicated 32 years to the Maldives Police Service, was appointed Commissioner of Police on 10 June last year. He concluded his service on 18 February, marking the end of a career that spanned operational, investigative, administrative and support divisions within the institution. Prior to assuming the top post, he served as Deputy Commissioner.
The retirement ceremony was attended by Ali Ihusan, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, along with Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikuree, senior commissioned officers, police personnel and civil staff.
During the event, Naveen was presented with a traditional plaque of honour reserved for retiring commissioners. The commemorative plaque features the Commissioner’s colours, medals, elements of the official uniform and his police identity card, symbolising his years of leadership and dedication.
Speakers at the ceremony reflected on his steady leadership, commitment to institutional development and service to the community. The gathering concluded with expressions of appreciation and well wishes as he embarks on a new chapter beyond active duty
