Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam has held separate discussions with the Foreign Ministers of India and Sri Lanka on further strengthening bilateral relations.
During telephone conversations with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Minister Iruthisham reviewed avenues to enhance cooperation and reaffirm longstanding ties with both neighbouring countries.
In her discussions with Indian Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar, Minister Iruthisham highlighted the enduring friendship between the Maldives and India. She noted that India has consistently extended support to the Maldives during difficult times, adding that the recently announced INR 30 billion currency swap facility further demonstrates the close relationship shared by the two nations.
Meanwhile, during talks with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, both ministers stressed the importance of further strengthening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
