Dr. Hussein Rasheed, the Deputy Leader of the Jumhooree Party has called the government not to deprive the people of their basic rights including the rights of assembly and freedom of speech.
Dr. Hussein Rasheed made this remark speaking at the “Maldivians in Defence of the Consitution” rally held near Seagull Restaurant.
He said that the rally is being held in a small area but the government is blocking many roads of Male’. He said that the government wants to harass the people and make their lives difficult in every opportunity they get.
Dr. Hussein Rasheed said that many participants are unable to join the protest because of the road blocks. He said that this is against the constitution.
He announced that a mass rally will be held at Usfasgandu on 19th of this month at 9:00 pm. He called as many people to join the event.
