Jumhooree Party and MDP’s interparty committee has decided to meet President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom as part of the works to defend the constitution.
The committee revealed this at a press conference held at M. Kunooz following a meeting of the committee.
MDP Chairperson, Ali Waheed said that they have decided to request to meet President Mohamed Nasheed and Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim and Ali Azim.
He also said that the committee decided to inform the government of the 13 demands of MDP and Jumhooree Party by writing.
Ali Waheed said that the interparty committee will also meet Home Minister Umar Naseer as the court order says that those detained should be detained at a place decided by the Home Ministry.
“Some Peoples Majlis members have joined these activities. We have also decided to work to get more support from other members. We agreed to also try to get the support of other political parties as well,” he said.
Ali Waheed said that they will do everything they can to make the authorities withdraw the political motivated charges.
