Legal team of the former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim has stated that according to the Police the finger prints found on the confiscated evidence did not match the prints of Nazim or the prints of any members from his family.
The legal team shared many details of the case to the public at a press conference held yesterday.
Maumoon Hameed, the leading lawyer of the team, stated that the report made by the Police indicates that there is a third party involvement as the finger prints found on the evidences does not match the prints of Nazim or that of his family members.
Maumoon noted that the Maldives Police Service did not try to find the third party and therefore the investigation of the case remains incomplete.
He also said that the Police are trying to keep the identity of the witnesses in the trial undisclosed. He said that there is no reason for fear while the witnesses are from the Police.
Maumoon also stated that the Prosecutor General failed to take his full responsibility regarding the case. He said that he sent the case for prosecution without even studying the case as is apparent from the way the prosecution is being conducted.
