Jumhooree Party’s Secretary General Ahmed Sameer has said that winning an election through force is not a real victory.
Speaking regarding the by-election of Shaviyani Atoll Milandhoo council election, Sameer said that the government showed to the people within 48 hours to the election that they will be establishing the sewage system of the island with the financial assistance of PPM.
“There was not a single flag of Maldives during the ceremony held to announce this. The whole place was pink. There were pink flags. What is this deception? They are showing to the people that these projects are financed from the pockets of PPM. These are all issues that should be made accountable for,” he said.
Sameer said that the people were threatened to vote for them if they want to make this sewage system installation project a reality.
He said that the Election Commission is under a “stupor” and therefore is not accepting no complaints regarding the election.
Sameer added that these are just the brink of the things to be witnessed from the government during the 2018 Presidential Election. He said that the people should think deeply regarding these matters.
