President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that Maldivians will not accept undue foreign influence.
President Yameen made this remark during the meeting held with the youth at Grass Citron.
He said that Maldives has always been an independent sovereign nation and that Maldivians would not accept any form of undue foreign influence on the country.
The President said that the Maldivian people had worked very hard to achieve freedom and fundamental rights.
He said the Maldives has now overcome such political challenges and was free from undue foreign influence.
President reiterated his commitment to treat all citizens equally. He said he does not believe in the policy of giving discriminatory favours to people who belong to a particular political party, adding that such acts would only create discord among the people.
He again reiterated that no one should let any foreign influence interfere with our independence and sovereignty.
In his speech, President Yameen said that despite differences in political views, for a nation to maintain its nationhood, everyone must unite in matters of independence, nationality, and sovereignty of the country. Continuing in this regard, the President called upon everyone to respect their nationality.
